Camphor Tree: 1870m

The current temple, according to Shigenobu Koji and Seiyu Koji, father and son priests, was built in 1950. The first was constructed about 350 years ago.

At the time of the bombing, this Camphor was about 50 years old and quite big, but the blast and subsequent fire storm destroyed everything in the area. The tree was burnt to the ground. Afterwards, buds sprang from the roots and eventually five saplings emerged, three of which form the tree you see today.
